Dan Berridge's Broadway Project started things off with three quick fire EPs establishing his dense, collaged and occasionally downright frightening sound before releasing 2001's critically lauded debut album, Compassion. Drawing comparisons to everyone from Kid A era Radiohead to DJ Shadow toŠ..Tom Waits, Broadway Project turned its attentions to the next album, The Vessel. Dan brought on board barmy, falsettoed vocalist Richard Palmer and the result was in album of huge intensity that tugs at your deeper emotions. Lets leave it to Berridge to explain: 'When Richard and myself first met, we realised that we had a shared vision for this kind of emotive and raw music. We were trying to do something difficult and that's got to count. It's music that needs to be listened to with an open heart. Its music for late at night. To give you strength.' Who could knock a sentiment like that? Get drawn in.

"Desolation, anger and redemption hasn't sounded this alluring in a long time" 5/5, Jockey Slut

"A milestone of electronic melancholy, suffused with feverish creativity...a hallucinogenic jazz dub ache for the state of the world in which we are all utterly, utterly alone" 8/10, NME

"At its turbulent best, Compassion approaches the symphonic. Imagine Orb-like sonic layers, Erik Satie impressionism, Floydian guitar loops and Air-style melodies...." 4/5, The Times

"A strictly widescreen production, listening to Compassion is a cathartic experience, like emerging from a black hole into blazing sunshine. Simply stunning" 5/5, Muzik
