“a psyched-up stonker” THE SUNDAY TIMES

“like The Beta Band backing The Flaming Lips” THE FLY

Colourmusic return with a taster for their forthcoming debut album for Memphis Industries. Having earlier this year released a pair of singles, “Yes!” and “Put in A little Gas”, which dealt in deliciously heavy euphoria, the Yorkshire/Oklahoma based band have been hard at work, crafting an immense, monsterous, chaotic, kick ass record.

“Tog” falls somewhere between the Tom Tom Club and Iggy Pop’s The Idiot (with perhaps a hint of a Glitter Band stomp).  Lyrically it is partly a eulogy to a perhaps real, perhaps imagined City as a living, breathing lover. Conveying heat and the sensuality, wrapped up with layers of paranoia and claustrophobia “Tog” is by turns threatening and joyous, an indication of the palette Colourmusic are painting from on their upcoming album.

Colourmusic are lead singer Ryan Hendrix, Nick Ley (drums) and Colin Fleishacker (bass), with axe man Nick Turner (the UK’s Colourmusic  representative). Their debut Memphis Industries album is due out in March 2011.
